People the world over have a natural attraction to water, and not only because water is essential to our survival, or because it is very important for cleaning. Water has a fascination that makes millions of people visit, or want to live near the sea, waterfalls, lakes and large ponds.

Moving and still water are not just attractive to the human eye, but seem to have a therapeutic value. The moving water is said to give particularly negative ions, which help to negate all the positive ions generated by modern living and can be harmful to our wellbeing. Whatever the reasons, though, the fact that water is the love of people in nature. Closer to home, she likes to bring that end in its own grounds with gardens, waterfalls, ponds and water sources.

What about within the home itself? Many of us bring nature into our homes and gardens with plants, and decorative plant pots. It is therefore only a small step to bring in water characteristics as well. Water can, and does, play a useful role in home decor, not on the grand scale in the average home, although it may do in a country mansion or a more luxurious home, but in miniature and decorative and imaginative ways .

There are three main ways to use water characteristics such as home decor:

Indoor Waterfalls

Having an indoor waterfall in the home, you can bring home the sound of running water, which has the effect of such relaxation. However, an interior waterfall can do far more for your home. Now there are so many varied designs, using quite a variety of materials, you should find a waterfall feature for the home that fits your decor, modern worlde, traditional, or olde.

There are basically two types of indoor waterfall: wall hanging, and released (or ground) the situation. Thus, so the placement of the falls, you have plenty of choice to fit in with interior design. They come in many sizes, too, from very small to a very great height over 6 feet in height and width. For the largest falls of hanging wall, you need a wall built in which substantially fix it. However, they can and look very impressive, and the larger size, more potential you have for the sounds of running water.

The used materials and finishes can be chosen to fit in with modern or traditional decor. Some of the most popular racks are stainless steel and copper, with a range of finishes for a modern look to bright, or an antique look with a final aging. As with natural waterfalls, natural stone is often a feature of the indoor equivalent, like pebbles. Slate, in many colors, is especially effective in indoor waterfalls.

Indoor fountains

Internal sources are like waterfalls in terms of materials used. In fact, the waterfall and the source names are often interchangeable when it comes to addressing the decor. However, what you probably imagine while a water source can be found, and is often available from table top size. These can be very small, but still a charming use of running water at home, are used in a vector as a centerpiece, or as an ornamental feature in a cupboard.

The designs of the sources of the table top can be quite delicate, and using decorative materials such as jade and bamboo, in some ways unique. These sources of the table top can come good in even a small modern home.

Aquarium fish

While many people keep an aquarium because she likes to fish, and makes for a hobby, there is also much potential for use as an aquarium home decorating feature. The sound of bubbling water comes from the filter, while a lot of movement and additional color comes from the fish themselves. When you add some attractive lighting to the tank, you can create a very soothing water feature for the home.

As with fountains and waterfalls, an aquarium can be a very wide range of sizes, free standing or built into a wall. Maintenance, of course, is much higher than for a waterfall or fountain, but you may well consider it worthwhile for all the pleasure that the fish can bring.

If you have space, there is no reason why you should not combine all three of these types of water features. They are all attractive in their own way, and can complement a bigger home.
