The first choice for a curtain will consider our project in terms of purpose and aesthetics.  First of all we need to define what factors place a formal curtain call for us, what function or provides practical purposes we choose, for example cover or reduce the passage of light, protect privacy, hide a defect, etc..

For all this we have the following types of curtains:

Barrales
The most popular and practical option undoubtedly are Barral; easy to apply decorative and adaptable to any type of window. The diversity of materials-wood, iron, patinated in different colors, etc .- forces us to think seriously about choosing the best option that suits the overall style of the room. A polished wooden barral goes well with a rustic decor, but it might clash with a very modern style. Knowing these constraints are a fundamental part of the election.

Rails
The curtain rails are composed of a rail and some slides in which the curtain is attached by tiny hooks. There are two kinds of rails, plastic and metal. Obviously the metal are much more resistant and suitable for all types of curtains. The plastic curtains are reduced to light or medium light, then do not stand too much weight. This rail system is ideal when we have enough space between the window and roof to put a barral.

Tensors
Novel system of steel cable which hold the fabric of the curtain by hooks or rings. Above all it is very practical and easy to adapt to any window, but only for light curtains and modern environments and industrial. By design stripped curtains are better suited to simple, without too much design, heads or blown.

Roman Curtains
It's called a Roman shade fabrics that fold lines on a horizontal-horizontal folds in several up-and when you need to pass the light or air. These curtains are recommended for fixed or sliding windows, and are not practical in windows that open inward. If you still want to do, try to hang above the top frame to fold them before you open or close the window.

Net curtains
The curtains are subject curtain panels above and below through a system of hems in which you spend a couple of metal rods and stretched under the window. Are displayed as small, flat sheets of material that permit the passage of light but sheltered from the outside. They adapt very well in small windows, especially in divided glass doors or older windows. This system uses fine fabrics such as organza, the boiler, linen or gauze, usually colored white, chalk, pastel or oil.
