Characterized by simplicity, balance and lack of ornamentation, the minimalism has its origin in New York in the 60s with movement and geometry of minimal art in the visual arts. It was adopted in the architecture and decoration as a contrast to the ornate styles of the '80s.

Minimalism uses sleek, contemporary lines, simple geometric shapes and basic, bridging ethnic to contemporary to create balanced and harmonious environments.

The virtual absence of accessories, straight lines, lighting, the play of volumes, surface treatment, make this an austere style in detail but both elegant and innovative in form and finish, by providing the areas there is a feeling of calm and peace.

The predominant colors belong to the spectrum between the white, earth tones and black, using more colorful touches to accentuate details and accessories, they must be studied carefully.

With regard to materials, finishes are prioritized those rustic, dark wood, concrete blocks, cobblestones, natural stone and polished concrete surfaces.

By using textile designs are preferred simple, rustic textures like linen in shades of ivory, avoiding overloaded or floral work, seeking to relate the textures and colors with the general atmosphere.
