Decorative Techniques: Gold or silver leaf to
Following the series of decorative techniques - in which we have learned to produce paper mache and decorate with cartapesta and decoupage - this time we will learn a simple technique to perform and very elegant finish: gold or silver to the blade.
It takes a few elements to the technique of gold or silver in the sheet:
. Marine sponge
· Soft bristle brush
· Bristle brush
° Pano soft
. Latex color of your choice
· Varnish Oil
· Bitumen of Judea (optional)
· Sheets of silver or gold
· Lacquer

The technique is not very difficult. You take the item you want to decorate (gold or silver leaf to be applied on surfaces of plaster, resin, wood, glass, etc.). Note that the leaves of gold or silver are very thin and delicate, so you have to be very careful. He paints to decorate the surface of cool colors (blue, light blue, etc..) If you are using amines l silver, and warm colors (red, orange, etc..) If you use gold as the color will you choose for between the cracks forming on the surface.
Once the surface is chosen and the color is dry, use the sponge to spread a thin layer of varnish. If you have to edit the background color, leave room for unvarnished then gold or silver will not stick. Placed carefully on the blade hits the surface and very gently with soft bristle brush. Once you've covered the entire surface, let dry. Remove the excess of gold or silver using a bristle brush to get the desired finish. Finally, it protects the piece with one or two coats of shellac or varnish. If you want to give the piece a more aged, a layer of bitumen, and then remove the excess with a cloth.
We hope you will put into practice the technique of gold or silver to the sheet and send us your comments!
