Advantages of metal railings
Convenience and durability - the metal railing
The article gives the benefit of metal railing on the other materials and various types of metals in which the rails can be made. The metal railings have inherent advantages over other materials such as PVC, glass, wood and so on. The advantages can be enumerated as follows.

Small sections and light can be made to suit purpose.
No putrefaction or splinter like wood railings
Designs can be customized with relative ease.
It can be made of the chassis or flat product to fit your style and budget
They are more durable than wood or PVC even out door conditions
Because once a layer of powder-coated paint, it becomes durable and life above 25 to 30 years can be achieved.
Requires no maintenance other than sweeping it off with a damp cloth
The commonly used metals in railings
Many metals are used in the manufacture of the railing. Common materials used are,
Stainless steel: Stainless steel is most commonly used material of the handrail. This is because of its great weight to the ratio of the strength and the ability to sell retail luster for long time without maintenance and the fact that debt also does not corrode. The workability of stainless steel is high and can pass through power presses without damage. It gives a modern look to the building
Wrought Iron: Another common material is used in the wrought iron railing. This material gives a look of the building period. The weight of rails made out of wrought iron is high. Maintenance requirements are almost nothing. A layer of paint applied correctly, will look like new and does not require any other care other than cleaning. If there is a break, it is difficult to weld and must be replaced. The replacement may not be available in the same design
Aluminum: Lightweight and durable, aluminum is suitable for straight lines and square shapes. The workability of aluminum is low and where the lines are curved, the aluminum is usually preferred. Maintenance requirements are the same as stainless steel and aluminum has a long life
The brass was a favored material for the rich and famous in medieval times. This material has lost its place on the railing industry and now is rarely used except as a cover for the handrail. The cover is maintenance prone in the sense it needs to be polished frequently to make it look new.
Therefore, out of the four materials mentioned above, only the stainless steel is used extensively in modern buildings.
