Trade in your old monitor for a flat screen LCD. These modern monitors consume only one third of the electricity they use larger monitors and tubes. The same can apply to televisions. The flat screen LCD consume half the energy than plasma or old tube televisions.

Get local fruits and vegetables and organic. Organic foods avoid the use of polluting fertilizers and are also much healthier. You can help the local agricultural industry if you buy at fairs in your city.

Use organic paints. We had seen earlier that ecological paints produce fewer toxic effects on the environment and health of those common paints.

Use light bulbs or low energy lamps. They are a bit more expensive than traditional, but you'll be amazed to find that one bulb can last you years without change.

Learn to recycle. It is important to separate organic waste paper, cans, plastic or glass. In many countries the same companies deliver waste bags in different colors for families to separate their waste and to recycle some items.

If you have a garden, you can avoid the use of pesticides environmental pollutants. How? Inviting birds to also live there. Build birdhouses to attract them and they alone are responsible for feeding on these insects that bother you so much.

You see, there are several ways to help care for the environment at home and without much effort. It's about commitment.
