The home of the artist was where we first had to intervene, a former tight PH environments which will bring greater dynamism to the integration of new visual spaces and changing routes at every step. It is located in the center of the block in the neighborhood of San Telmo on the first floor of an old building in the area. The PH has two floors, the first access takes place, the kitchen, library and workshop, in the second bedroom and access to the terrace. But our challenge was how to build a new space for painting workshop at low cost. The only possibility of expansion at a low budget was built on the roof.
That's why it was thought in a block-metallic container could be built in a factory and assemble it in pieces in place (in situ), giving a reading of formal contrast with the existing brick architecture, and allow him to develop the artistic creative activity in the designer with complete independence from the rest of the house and into a new workspace and prepared for the activity with neutral and smooth surfaces.
This volume develops metal added as a box-like container clearly differentiated from the other buildings not only its materiality but also by their red color further underscoring the innovative spirit and the contrast between old and new.
From inside the catch block the visual of the buildings in the area on their roofs and terraces giving the character a bit of refuge from the vastness of the city.
In this project we have developed a new concept emerging spaces, extra spaces to fulfill a new role within the property, we have called Extra-space and we can study in each case.
