Sky Village / MVRDV + ADEPT
Some time ago we showed the new building for OMA New York with part of its volume cantilever, a new typology that Koolhaas was exploring for some time. A similar approach is used by MVRDV with ADEPT in the contest that had just been awarded to a tower in Rødovre municipality of Copenhagen, Denmark. This is a mixed-use tower 116 meters high, which includes commercial, office, bedroom and a hotel.
Unlike the approach of Koolhaas, where the walls are bearing the burden, the proposed functions of these offices on the basis of a module structure of steel around a core of vertical concrete - which are actually 3 to serve as independent the different uses of the program.

One of the premises of 60m2 of these modules is that these can be assigned to the different uses to the extent necessary flexibility that allows you to adjust in terms of square meters of housing or offices as necessary given the volatility of the markets today for today.
On arrival at the ground, the building will house space for shops and restaurants, surrounded by a public plaza. Above this level, the building is beginning to expand to accommodate the required square meters for office initially, and then begins to tilt towards the north to form terraced areas to the south for shelter. At the top you will find the hotel that will use the views of the city.
The building features a circuit of greywater treatment up to 40% of recycled concrete in the foundations and devices for generating energy on the façades, which I imagine must be some solar panels or wind generator.
A preliminary level are a good integration with public space. I have faith in this project, it remains to be seen as MVRDV pulls forward mixed use which can be transformed into a good piece of autonomous city, yet connected through the public spaces.
